Location
Shingalana Walking Safari's are situated with in Sandringham Private Game Reserve which borders the Kruger National Park, we are 30 km from the Orpen gate.

Our Name
Shingalana is the tswana word for little lion, Shingalana was a lion cub that was abadoned by her mother at birth, she was then picked up by the famouse concervationist john Varty. JV raised her as a cub with the idea of returning her back to nature one day, he had to move her to Zambia as he could not release her in one of the local reserves as the humen occupancy was to high and this could have caused a risk for Shingalana and the locals that lived with in the reserves. She was finaly in Zambia but tradgety struck and she was killed by the females of the resident pride of the area. John Varty still continues his work as concervationnist with many success.

Our camp

Our camp is small but personal with no fences to spoil your view, we have big buffalo groups entering the camp almost every day. We sleep 10 people and we have a honey moon suite on request. The camp has a pool with a stockted bar which will be available at all times, the pool area has hamoc's for your relaxation with a perfect view over the bush. All meals are served outside depending on the weather.

Activities

We offer 3 and 5 day walking safari's where you will walk to a new camp every day where we will over night in tents, the walks will be educational and give you the oppertunity to get in close contact with the animals in the reserve. Game drive's will be done daily and by night. A qualified ranger will accompany you at all times. We will arrange scenic routes in and arround the Kruger national park and spesialized game drives on request.
